Carson Tahoe Health’s Mallory Behavioral Health Crisis Center Provides Necessary Care for Patients in a Mental Health and/or Substance Use Crisis

Carson Tahoe Health, a leading healthcare system in northern Nevada, is dedicated to providing quality healthcare services to patients throughout the region. Carson Tahoe Health recently opened the Mallory Behavioral Health Crisis Center after having identified a community need for increased access to immediate mental health and substance use treatment. This new facility is providing a much needed alternative to emergency rooms and jails. The crisis center provides access to high-quality care for patients experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises and supports law enforcement, emergency responders, and community agencies by offering a safe environment that is easily accessible.

“Working directly with first responders, law enforcement and emergency room staffs, this center is providing patients with the proper care they need, when they need it most,” said Ed Epperson, President/CEO of Carson Tahoe Health. “And, it reinforces our mission to identify and meet our community’s healthcare needs.”

Thanks to a generous donation by the Mallory Foundation, this innovative center is designed to help alleviate congestion in the emergency rooms and jails while providing mental health services to patients that do not have a medical condition which would require emergency room services.

“The Mallory Behavioral Health Crisis Center has created a most positive change in the way we approach behavioral health calls,” said Kenny Furlong, Carson City Sheriff. “This unit has given officers options that were not readily available in the past.”

The center provides a multidisciplinary team approach, including psychiatry, nursing, counseling and case management, who work together to determine the best treatment options available. Additionally, this has created a great collaboration between the first responders and crisis center staff.

The new Mallory Behavior Health Crisis Center is another addition to the Mallory Foundation’s generous support of Carson Tahoe Health and the overall health and well-being of our community.  Established by the late Jean Mallory, daughter of the famous inventor and entrepreneur, Marion Mallory, the Mallory Foundation’s charitable support is deeply rooted in education, innovation and holds historical significance both locally and worldwide.

Located at 775 Fleischmann Way in Carson City, the CTH Mallory Behavioral Health Crisis Center can be reached directly at (775) 445-8889, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Law enforcement, Emergency Responders, and Emergency Rooms may also directly phone the center to triage anyone who is in a mental health and/or substance use crisis.
