Scholarship program for Carson City AYSO Region 140 fully funded through 2022

AYSO Carson City, which has served more than 25,000 children since 1976, is able to cover the cost of partial and full scholarships thanks to a grant provided by Carson Tahoe Health’s (CTH) Community Partnership Fund and the determination of one CTH employee. AYSO, a non-profit organization, will use the funds to cover registration fees for families who demonstrate need to the organization. Vehicle donated by Robert Z. Hawkins Foundations supports behavioral health outreach in Quad Counties

The Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation, which has served northern Nevada as a non-profit since 1980, has donated a vehicle to Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) for its behavioral health outreach programs. The vehicle will be used to assist CTH professionals and increase access to care through programs such as Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), First Episode Psychosis (FEP), school suicide risk assessments and community education around mental health awareness and suicide. CTH Welcomes Dr. Jeffrey Turner, Cardiac Electrophysiologist

This June, a new physician, Dr. Jeffrey Turner, will join our Cardiology team, bringing an entirely new field of heart care—Cardiac Electrophysiology (Cardiac EP)—to our region. Electrophysiologists are the “electricians” of the heart, diagnosing and treating abnormal heart rhythms, or arrhythmias, such as Atrial Fibrillation (also known as A-Fib) and Atrial Flutter. As the human heart beats, it pumps oxygen and nutrient-rich blood throughout the body, and carries away carbon dioxide and waste products. In a weakened or damaged heart, the electrical impulses of the heart may not function properly, leading to an irregular heartbeat.
