Carson Valley Quilt Guild Donates Handmade Quilt to First Baby Born on National Quilting Day

To commemorate National Quilting Day Saturday, March 19, 2022 The Carson Valley Quilt Guild worked together to create a handmade quilt, special for the first baby born that day at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. Newborn baby boy Luke Cooley, born at 2:09 a.m., weighing 6 lbs. and 13 oz. was the lucky recipient of the multi-colored quilt. Luke’s parents, Kassidy and Kelly Cooley, were happy to receive the basket and are enjoying embracing their little one in the handmade blanket.   The Carson Valley Quilt Guild comprised of about 125 members, celebrated National Quilting Day in a number of ways including the traditional “bed turning” at the Museum in Gardnerville. PRC, a leader in the healthcare intelligence space, has awarded Carson Tahoe Health as a 2022 PRC Excellence in Healthcare Award recipient in four categories. Carson Tahoe received 5-Star recognition, top honors from PRC, for facility services in Emergency Department Services, Inpatient ICU Services and Outpatient Surgery Services. William N. Pennington Foundation provides half a million-dollar donation to support Carson Tahoe Cancer Center

The William N. Pennington Foundation recently granted $543,898 for renovations of the only no-cost lodging in our region for patients facing cancer. The grant will cover all of the internal cottage upgrades, including new furniture, fireplaces, paint, window coverings and more. The cottages are utilized by patients from all over rural Northern Nevada who would otherwise have to travel great distances multiple times a week to receive care.
