Carson Tahoe Health to Celebrate National Trails Day with New Paths and Wellness Opportunities

A new community trail will be completed June 2, on National Trail’s Day. Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space’s new 1.1 mile hiking/running/mountain biking trail, with trailhead space donated by Carson Tahoe Health, will run from the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center/Foothill Garden to Lakeview Estates.  This Saturday, volunteers will be completing The Foothill Trail, with its new trailhead just behind the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, next to the Foothill Garden. Cancer Patients Have a Home in Carson City

The Merriner Cottages are 15 units that provide restful nights for out-of-town cancer patients. They are provided at no cost to those who qualify. On June 28, a fundraiser was held at Adele’s Restaurant to raise funds for the operating expenses of the Merriner Cottages. Brenda Chapman has been involved in this event for the past four years.
