Carson Tahoe Health is proud to announce that its Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) has achieved CDC Full Plus Recognition. This is the highest level of recognition awarded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Diabetes Prevention Program. The distinction recognizes organizations that demonstrate exceptional participant outcomes. It also reflects a strong commitment to helping individuals reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes through sustainable lifestyle changes.

Prediabetes is a serious health condition that affects millions of Americans and significantly increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. The good news is that type 2 diabetes can often be prevented through healthy lifestyle changes. Carson Tahoe Health’s CDC-approved Diabetes Prevention Program provides participants with education, support, and tools. These resources help individuals make meaningful changes that improve long-term health and wellness.

The program is powered by the evidence-based Group Lifestyle Balance™ curriculum. It is a year-long program focused on healthy eating, physical activity, stress management, and weight management. Participants receive guidance from a certified lifestyle coach. They also connect with peers facing similar challenges. In addition, they develop practical strategies to overcome barriers and maintain healthy habits. Research shows that participants can reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by more than 50 percent through programs like DPP.

“Achieving CDC Full Plus Recognition reflects the dedication of our Nutrition Services team. It also highlights the commitment of our participants who have embraced healthier lifestyles,” said Rachel Burns, RD, CDCES, with Carson Tahoe Health Nutrition Services. “We are proud to offer a program that empowers individuals to take control of their health. It also supports lasting changes that can help prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.”
