Carson Tahoe Health Receives Emergency COVID-19 Response Grant from William N. Pennington Foundation

Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) recently received an emergency COVID-19 response grant in the amount of $98,960 from the William N. Pennington Foundation. The grant will contribute to needed equipment for Carson Tahoe during this dynamic virus outbreak. Since its creation in 1989, the William N. Pennington Foundation has served as a resource to the community during times of hardship. The purpose of the William N. Carson Tahoe Health Installs ‘Karma Boxes’ To Support & Engage Community Wellness

Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) is unveiling several “Karma Boxes” (wooden/Plexiglas donation cabinets) at its various locations to house toiletries, first-aid items, and nonperishable foods for those in need, all available at any time and at no cost. This simple, yet powerful concept is best summed up by its slogan, “If it’s empty, fill it. If you need it, it’s yours.” Collaboration for this project was key, especially with community at its heart. Carson Tahoe Health Helps Raise Awareness & Education for American Heart Month in February

In recognition of February as American Heart Month, Carson Tahoe Health will be participating in and hosting several educational and awareness events throughout the month. Heart disease and stroke, identified as several of the top areas of opportunity in both Carson Tahoe’s 2016 and 2019 Community Health Needs Assessment, are leading causes of death for men and women nationally.  Carson Tahoe Health makes it a priority to help various community organizations raise awareness on heart disease and is committed to providing assistance to the community through education and support. Carson Tahoe Health is pleased to announce Mallory Behavioral Health Crisis Center was recognized Thursday, Jan. 9 for its diligent efforts in advocacy, community connections, and support for those experiencing a mental health and/or substance use crisis. Community Partners Welcome First Baby Born in 2020

Royce Ponton gave birth to a new baby boy, Leviathan Wayne Ponton at 12:53 AM on Jan. 1, the first baby of 2020 at Carson Tahoe; he also achieved the title of first Northern Nevada baby born in 2020! But, unbeknownst to Royce, she had even more to celebrate! For the first time ever, Western Nevada College (WNC) provided the first New Year baby a full academic scholarship through the college’s foundation. Now, when Leviathan is of age and decides to explore higher education, he will have one less thing to worry about following high school graduation.
