At Carson Tahoe Health, we’re celebrating a major milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to bringing advanced, life-changing care to our region: the successful completion of our 50th Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure!
TAVR is a minimally invasive procedure used to replace a narrowed aortic valve without the need for open-heart surgery. It’s a game-changing option for patients who are considered high-risk for traditional surgery—and for many, it brings renewed energy and a new lease on life.
We performed our very first TAVR in September 2024, and in less than a year, the program has grown to serve patients across Northern Nevada with high-quality, leading-edge care.
“We are incredibly proud of our heart team and the lives that have been changed through this program,” said Dr. David Baker, Chief Medical Officer at Carson Tahoe Health. “The TAVR program reflects our commitment to investing in advanced procedures that give our patients more options, quicker recovery times, and improved outcomes—right here at home.”
The success of this program wouldn’t be possible without the skilled collaboration of our cardiovascular team and the support of Medtronic’s innovative valve technology, which helps ensure precision and safety during every procedure.
As a not-for-profit, community-based health system, Carson Tahoe continues to invest in meaningful advancements that make a real difference in the lives of our patients—and we’re just getting started.
