Heart Month Kicks Off at Carson Tahoe Health

February is here, and with it comes Heart Month—a time to spotlight the importance of heart health and raise awareness about heart disease, the leading cause of death for both men and women. At Carson Tahoe Health, we’re thrilled to launch a month full of events and initiatives designed to inform, inspire, and empower our community to take charge of their heart health.

National Wear Red Day – February 7

Join us on February 7 for National Wear Red Day as we stand together to raise awareness about heart disease and promote healthier lifestyles. By wearing red, we not only show support for those affected by heart disease but also bring attention to its preventable nature.

Be part of the action and join us for a group photo at 9:30 AM by Starbucks at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. This will be a moment to show our solidarity and commitment to heart health. Can’t make it to the group photo? No problem! You can still participate by taking a picture with your team, friends, or colleagues wearing red and sharing it with us. Together, we can make a powerful statement in the fight against heart disease.

Heart Smart Screenings: Early Detection Saves Lives

Throughout February, we’re offering Heart Smart Screenings to help identify potential risks and encourage early intervention. These screenings are a vital tool in preventing severe outcomes and saving lives—just like they did for Dave Riffle.

Recently, Dave’s life took an unexpected turn when an angiogram revealed that three of his coronary arteries were 95-100% blocked—a condition that could have been fatal at any moment. Thanks to the swift action of his cardiologist, Dr. DiPaolo, and the skilled surgical team led by Dr. Chapman, Dave underwent successful quadruple bypass surgery. Today, he has a second chance at life. Stories like Dave’s highlight the silent, severe nature of heart disease and the lifesaving potential of timely intervention.

Don’t wait to take control of your heart health. Schedule your Heart Smart Screening today and take a proactive step toward a healthier future. For available dates and more information, please see our Heart Smart Screening flyer.

Upcoming Heart Month Events

  • February 13 & 14: Rose Sale hosted by the Cardiology team at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center and Sierra locations. Roses will be sold in the afternoon on February 13 and in the morning on February 14. Prices: $3 for one rose or $5 for two.

Let’s Celebrate Heart Health Together

As we embark on Heart Month, let’s come together as a community to spread awareness, support one another, and prioritize heart health. Whether it’s through participating in National Wear Red Day, scheduling a screening, or simply sharing your story, every action makes a difference. Together, we can build a healthier, heart-smart community.
