Carson Tahoe Health is proud to share that six team members have been selected for the inaugural year of the Nevada Health Equity and Loan Assistance (HEAL) Program—an important statewide initiative led by the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office.
On Thursday, July 17, a recognition event was held to honor Carson Tahoe’s recipients. We were honored to welcome Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine and his team, and we’re grateful for his leadership in advancing healthcare equity and investing in our workforce.

Investing in People Who Care
The HEAL Program is a state-funded student loan forgiveness initiative that supports healthcare providers committed to serving in Nevada’s rural or underserved communities for at least five years. Depending on their role, Carson Tahoe recipients were awarded between $15,000 and $120,000 in student loan repayment—recognizing both their dedication and the critical role they play in expanding access to care.

Among the six Carson Tahoe recipients, the following team members were present at the event:
- Thania Edith Rodriguez Mendoza
- Jessica Young
- Makenna R. Lafond
Each of these individuals exemplifies the compassion and commitment that define Carson Tahoe.

A Shared Commitment to Community Health
At Carson Tahoe, we believe a strong healthcare system starts with supporting the people who make it work. That’s why we’re especially proud of our team’s recognition through the HEAL Program—and grateful to the State of Nevada for creating a meaningful path forward for providers statewide.
“This program doesn’t just support healthcare workers—it uplifts entire communities,” said Michelle Miller, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Carson Tahoe. “It’s an investment in the future of care in Nevada.”
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all six Carson Tahoe HEAL recipients and our sincere thanks to Treasurer Conine and the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office for championing this transformative initiative.
