Supporting those who serve starts with the people beside them. For two members of Carson Tahoe Health’s Behavioral Health Services team, that support led to recognition from an employee who also serves in the military.
Megan Martinez, MSN, MBA, RN, CPHQ, Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health & Crisis Stabilization, and Meghan Cochran, BSN, CMS-RN, Nursing Supervisor for BHS/Mallory Crisis Center, received the Patriot Award from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) on October 6, 2026. Their colleague, Jessica Hoover, nominated both leaders in appreciation of their leadership and support of her military service.
Recognition from a colleague
The nomination makes this recognition especially meaningful. It came from someone who works alongside Megan Martinez and Meghan Cochran and wanted to recognize the difference their support has made.
Hoover’s nomination acknowledged both leaders for supporting her as she balances her work at Carson Tahoe with her military responsibilities.
ESGR representatives Bob Fritz, a public affairs representative, and John Skowronek also attended the award presentation.
What is the ESGR Patriot Award
The Patriot Award recognizes individual supervisors for their support of employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve. Service members, or their spouses, can nominate supervisors who have supported the service member and their family.
Unlike a general workplace recognition, this award begins with a nomination from someone directly affected by that support. For Megan Martinez and Meghan Cochran, it is an acknowledgment from their own colleague.
Celebrating our Behavioral Health Services team
At Carson Tahoe Health, we’re proud to congratulate Megan Martinez and Meghan Cochran on this recognition and thank Hoover for her service to our country and her work caring for our community.
