Meet the People Making a Difference
May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to raise awareness about mental health and celebrate the individuals who dedicate their careers to making a difference. At Carson Tahoe Behavioral Health Services (BHS), we’re proud to have an extraordinary team of professionals committed to providing compassionate care to our patients and community.
This month, we’re spotlighting some of the incredible individuals who make BHS a special place to work. Their stories are a testament to the passion, purpose, and resilience that define our team.
Michaela Golden

Position: Certified Peer Recovery and Support Specialist
Years of Service: 1.75
Q: What encouraged you to be in Behavioral Health?
A: Struggling with my own mental health and recovery—and then getting on top of my mental health, substance abuse, and alcoholism. I want to be there for others who are struggling or who think that there isn’t hope. If I can do it, you can do it. We are here as a team, and we can support you.
Q: What do you enjoy about BHS?
A: I enjoy being able to meet people where they are at while having supportive management. I feel like I can go to my supervisors or anyone in a lead position with concerns—with no fear of judgment—and that I can also go to them with things to celebrate.
Q: Why Carson Tahoe Health?
A: My therapist actually told me about this job. He believed I could use my experience to support others. If I can get through it, so can they.
