Volunteering at Carson Tahoe Health: Driving Kindness with Mickey

At Carson Tahoe Health, our volunteers are the heart of what we do. They make every visitor’s experience brighter, easier, and more welcoming. This month, we’re kicking off our volunteer blog series by shining a spotlight on Mickey, a dedicated shuttle driver who has been with us for an incredible six years.

Mickey’s favorite part of volunteering? “Helping people and being a bright spot in their day,” he shares with a warm smile. Whether it’s a patient rushing to their appointment or a visitor who needs a little extra guidance, Mickey is there, driving kindness one ride at a time.

The Benefits of Being a CTH Volunteer. Mickey enjoys the perks of volunteering at CTH, including a $15 meal voucher for each day he volunteers, an annual recognition luncheon, a 10% discount in the gift shop, complimentary lab vouchers, flu vaccinations, invitations to special events, and discounted services from CTH. These benefits are our way of saying thank you to the incredible volunteers like Mickey who dedicate their time and energy to our mission.

How to Become a Volunteer. If Mickey’s story inspires you, we’d love to have you on our team. Volunteers must be 18 years or older (or 16+ with parental consent). The process includes submitting an online application, completing a background check, an Employee Health Checklist, and attending volunteer orientation. Once you join, you’ll wear the CTH Volunteer uniform with pride and receive training to help you succeed in your role.
