Carson Tahoe Health is proud to welcome Kristen L. Wahlen, DO, to our General Surgery team. Dr. Wahlen joins us from Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, where she served as Chief General Surgery Resident. Her experience includes both essential general surgery procedures and advanced areas such as colorectal, breast, and melanoma care. She also specializes in minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopy, endoscopy, and robotics.
Dr. Wahlen was drawn to medicine at a young age, combining her passion for science, math, and problem-solving with a hands-on approach, making surgery a natural fit. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Biomedical Science from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS. She also holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Memphis.
She works closely with each patient to determine the best path forward based on their needs, goals, and overall health. Dr. Wahlen prides herself on providing patient-centered care that combines technical precision with genuine compassion to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Murphy, traveling, going to concerts and music festivals, exploring the outdoors and is looking forward to becoming part of the Carson City and Northern Nevada community.
