Carson Tahoe Health is proud to welcome Matthew Hofeldt, MD, FACS, to our surgical team. Dr. Hofeldt is a board-certified general surgeon with nearly two decades of experience and a particular focus on minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
A graduate of West Virginia University School of Medicine, Dr. Hofeldt completed his residency training at Charleston Area Medical Center/West Virginia University Charleston Campus. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Hofeldt brings a hands-on, compassionate approach to patient care. “I love being in the OR. Surgery allows me to immediately and directly address my patients’ problems. It’s very gratifying to use my hands-on abilities to help,” he shares.
Known for his efficiency and empathy, Dr. Hofeldt prioritizes getting patients seen quickly—often within a week or two—recognizing that many surgical concerns can be painful or time-sensitive. “I try to be available and responsive, and I never want to waste a patient’s time. Once I’m with them, I give them my full attention, speak plainly, and focus on educating them about their condition and treatment options.”
His 18 years of surgical experience have been refined through over 2,000 robotic surgeries, making him a seasoned expert in the use of advanced technology to improve outcomes and recovery times.
When he’s not in the OR, Dr. Hofeldt enjoys reading, watching college football, hiking, and biking, something new since his move to the area. He’s also a proud dog dad to four energetic pups.
Please join us in giving Dr. Hofeldt a warm welcome to the Carson Tahoe family!
