5 ways to eat more greens | Carson Tahoe Health

Getting enough greens in your diet is essential for good health.  We all know that green vegetables are packed with nutrients and antioxidants – here are five ways you can incorporate more into your everyday routine.

 1. Drink them

Greens like kale and spinach can be easily juiced or blended to pack some extra vitamins and fiber into your beverage. We recommend adding about 6-8 leaves of kale to a juice or blended mixture of green apple, ginger, lemon and celery. It tastes great and leaves you feeling more energized and healthy!

 2. Add them to soup

Greens are a fantastic addition to any soups or stews. Simply chop them up and add them during the last few minutes of cooking. Once the greens are wilted, your dish is ready to be served.

 3. Make a “one-a-day” rule

Challenge yourself to have at least one salad a day. Whether it’s a side salad or making your meal a lettuce filled nirvana. It’s a doable and yummy way to add more greens to your diet.

 4. Treat them like a carb

In many instances, substantial greens like spinach, kale and romaine lettuce taste great with pasta sauce. Also, try making a lettuce wrapped sandwich instead of using bread or a tortilla.

5. Spruce up your sides

There are so many ways to work greens into dinner. One of the easiest, of course, is to just sauté some as a side dish for whatever else you’re having — a bit of garlic, coconut oil and a pinch of red pepper flakes are a good start.
