New Human Anatomy Exhibit Closer to Becoming Reality
Officials at the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum (The Discovery) announced that Carson Tahoe Health is donating $100,000 to help fund the museum’s newest gallery entitled Inside Out: an Anatomy Experience.
Inside Out is a 2,500 square-foot permanent gallery that will allow visitors to dive into the curiosities of human anatomy and learn more about their own bodies. Through captivating, hands-on exhibits, museum visitors will uncover the amazing ways our bodies work, grow, age and heal.
Carson Tahoe Health’s inspiration to get involved with the project stems from their commitment to be at the forefront of innovative technology in healthcare. Carson Tahoe Health is the only provider in northern Nevada now using angioplasty balloons coated with medication to treat Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), which is why their donation will go towards funding the portion of the gallery focused on cardiac care. The hospital hopes to inspire future doctors, and other bright minds by helping make this gallery a reality.
“We are excited at the opportunity to support such a wonderful organization and to be a part of bringing an experience like this to our community,” said Diane Rush, Manager Development & Marketing with Carson Tahoe Health. “We hope that this opportunity to explore the human anatomy will inspire museum visitors to live healthier lives and possibly even consider working in the healthcare industry.”
The Discovery’s executive director Mat Sinclair said, “We cannot thank Carson Tahoe Health enough for their generous contribution to this exhibit. It’s the continued support of our generous community that assists us with bringing unique, new experiences to The Discovery.”
The Discovery has also received donations for Inside Out from the Frank M. and Gertrude R. Doyle Foundation, Charles N. Mathewson Charitable Trust, Dorothy Towne Foundation, and Reno Orthopaedic Clinic. If the museum is successful in reaching its $1 million fundraising goal by the end of the year, construction of the new gallery will begin in January 2015 with a projected opening date of mid-summer 2015.
