Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center One of the Highest CMS Rated Hospitals in Northern Nevada

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced that Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center has achieved a 4-star rating for an acute care hospital, out-ranking the national average of 3-stars. An upward movement in this ranking scale is not an easy achievement as the data behind these star ratings lag anywhere from 6 to 18 months behind and the core measures are consistently changing. Carson Tahoe is one of the highest-ranked acute-care hospitals in Nevada.

CMS annually releases ratings to objectively compare the quality of care for over 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals across the nation. For each hospital, CMS summarizes 57 core quality measures around mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care, and efficient use of medical imaging into a single star rating.

“At Carson Tahoe, we are continually reviewing and improving our processes” said Michelle Joy, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Carson Tahoe Health. “We have made a commitment to ensure our patients are receiving the best possible care, and this 4-star rating is great validation of our efforts.”
