A Compassionate Presence Throughout a Patient’s Cancer Journey
The daughter of a patient nominated Terrie after her mother began a cancer journey at age 73 with a diagnosis of Triple Negative Breast Cancer. From the very beginning, Terrie became more than a nurse — she became a steady and trusted presence during an overwhelming and complex treatment process. She helped coordinate dozens of appointments for bloodwork, infusions, and follow-ups, answered questions, clarified next steps, ensured nothing was overlooked, and celebrated every milestone along the way.
After two years of treatment, doctors diagnosed the patient with Grade IV glioblastoma, bringing another devastating chapter for the family. Once again, Terrie stood beside them, sharing in their grief and offering steady support during an unimaginable chapter. As the patient’s daughter stepped into the role of full-time caregiver, Terrie continued to go above and beyond, assisting in securing essential medical equipment for the home and making herself available to listen, comfort, and guide during moments of exhaustion and uncertainty.
