Robotics Showcase Recap: Welcoming “Sir Fix-a-Lot”

On May 20, Carson Tahoe hosted an energetic and family-friendly Robotics Showcase that brought community members of all ages together for a day of discovery and innovation. The event offered local students a unique opportunity to explore state-of-the-art surgical technology, including hands-on learning activities centered around our robotic systems.

The highlight of the day? The grand unveiling—and naming—of our newest surgical team member, the Da Vinci DV5 robot. After receiving dozens of creative entries, we officially crowned our new robot “Sir Fix-a-Lot.” The winning name was submitted by 14-year-old Carson City resident Madden Nelson, who took home an iPad Pro for his clever and memorable contribution.

By offering hands-on experiences with real surgical tools, engaging activities, and opportunities to interact with professionals in robotics and healthcare, the Robotics Showcase gave young minds a glimpse into the exciting world of STEM. Whether it was programming a robot, exploring engineering principles, or simply asking questions, students left the event empowered and energized, many expressing newfound interest in pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

From engaging demos to future-focused conversations, the Robotics Showcase was a celebration of innovation, collaboration, and the bright minds of tomorrow.
