At Carson Tahoe Health, we’re proud to celebrate a major milestone in cardiovascular care: the successful completion of our 100th Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure.

This achievement reflects the continued growth of Carson Tahoe’s Structural Heart Program and our commitment to bringing advanced cardiac care closer to home for patients across Northern Nevada.

TAVR is a minimally invasive procedure used to replace a narrowed aortic valve without the need for open-heart surgery. For patients with severe aortic stenosis—especially those considered high-risk for traditional surgery—TAVR offers a life-changing option with shorter recovery times and improved quality of life.

Since performing our first TAVR procedure in September 2024, Carson Tahoe’s cardiovascular team has continued to expand access to this innovative treatment, helping more patients receive advanced care without leaving the region.

“Reaching our 100th TAVR procedure is an important milestone for our program and for the patients we serve,” said Dr. Devraj. “Each case represents someone in our community who can now breathe easier, move with less limitation, and return to daily life with improved confidence. Being able to offer this level of structural heart care close to home means patients no longer need to travel long distances for advanced treatment. It reflects our commitment to providing safe, evidence-based therapy in a community setting, where patients can stay near their families and support systems while receiving high-quality care.”

This milestone would not be possible without the expertise and collaboration of Carson Tahoe’s cardiovascular team—including physicians, nurses, technicians, and support staff—who work together to ensure each patient receives personalized care throughout every step of their heart health journey.

As a not-for-profit, community-based health system, Carson Tahoe Health remains committed to investing in innovative treatments that improve access and outcomes for the communities we serve.
