Carson Tahoe Health President and CEO Michelle Joy has been recognized on two Becker’s Hospital Review lists for 2026: “240 Community Hospital CEOs to Know” and “236 Women Hospital and Health System Presidents and CEOs to Know.” Together, these honors highlight her leadership of Carson Tahoe Health and commitment to the people it serves across Northern Nevada.
Becker’s Hospital Review is a national healthcare publication covering hospital and health system leadership, strategy, clinical care and industry trends.
In its Community Hospital CEOs to Know recognition, Becker’s highlighted Michelle’s leadership in preserving Carson Tahoe Health’s independence while expanding its services and reach. That work keeps the organization grounded in its nonprofit mission and responsive to the needs of Northern Nevada patients and families.
Becker’s women leaders list recognizes executives who are expanding access, strengthening partnerships and advancing improvements in care. Michelle’s profile highlights her leadership of Carson Tahoe’s independent nonprofit health system and efforts to strengthen its organizational culture. It also notes that recent employee engagement surveys reflected the highest satisfaction ratings for executive leadership in more than a decade. Michelle joined Carson Tahoe as Chief Operating Officer in 2014.
The profiles also recognized Carson Tahoe’s commitment to care beyond the hospital, including Healing Our Kids, an initiative addressing youth mental health. Becker’s noted the organization’s support for maternal and infant care through its Baby-Friendly Hospital designation, along with recognition from the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality.
