Breakfast smoothies are the perfect grab-n-go healthy breakfast option that will cool you down and get your day started on the right track! Not sure about what to blend? Here are a few ideas to try!
Raspberry Coconut Smoothie
You can substitute any berries of your choice in this recipe.
Serves 2
3 tablespoons golden flax seeds
1/2 cup coconut milk
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup frozen raspberries
1 banana
1 Tablespoon honey
Blend flax seeds in blender until seeds are ground. Add coconut milk, water, berries, banana and honey. Blend until smooth.
*to change it up a bit, you can add different extracts (almond is a popular favorite) or, omit the berries, add an extra banana, and then a tablespoon of cacao powder for a chocolaty shake.
Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie
Ingredients:
1/2 to 1 banana
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup low-fat yogurt
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
4 tbsp muesli
1 cup milk
optional: sugar or honey
optional: ice cubes
Depending on how thick you like the smoothie, add 1/2 to 1 banana and 1/2 a cup blueberries.
Pour in 1/2 cup (low fat) yogurt.
You can also add a little extra sugar or honey if you like it sweet. The natural sweetness of the berries will make it sweet enough.
Add muesli.
tip: you can also do this with rolled oats.
Pour in 1 cup of milk.
Blitz, blitz, blitz for about 45 to 60 seconds. Until everything has blended well and the muesli has been pulverized.
This is really a simple and fast breakfast, but so packed with flavor and fiber, it’s a meal in itself. Don’t you love the wicked purple color!?!
Almond Banana Flaxseed Smoothie
serves 2 in tall glasses, or 3 in smaller glasses
2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/4 cup almond butter*
2 frozen ripe bananas [I break each banana into pieces, wrap in freezer-safe foil, and freeze overnight]
2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons honey or desired sweetness
Blend and enjoy.
*Tip: Use an ice cream scoop to prevent almond butter from sticking to spoon.
